•After the death of his parents as a child, Haruka lived with his grandmother. After a performance with the church’s choir, Haruka was approached by Takamas Kujou. The man told Haruka he had talent, and that Kujou could make him a star - and would even adopt him as a child! Excited, Haruka rushed home to tell his grandmother the news, before he would eventually leave to study with Kujou.
•Kujou would train Haruka with the intent to make him a legendary idol, with dreams of the boy becoming an even more beloved, famous idol than Zero, who Kujou worked with in the past. The two left Japan, but Kujou would never fulfill his promise of adopting Haruka despite how much Haruka applied himself.
•At some point, Kujou legally adopted Aya Yotsuba and Tenn Nanase, before he deemed Haruka a failure. As far as Kujou was concerned, Haruka would never be an idol and he was a failure, and there would be no chance for Haruka to prove himself to Kujou even though the boy was desperate to.
•The failure and his replacement by Tenn left Haruka incredibly bitter, but things don’t ease up from there! He was sent back to Japan, and he discovered that his grandmother had been hospitalized and had not told him because she didn’t want to get in the way of his dreams.
•Tenn would debut as an idol with the group TRIGGER, and after his debut Haruka was approached by Ryou Tsukumo. The man had a vision - he wanted to destroy the idol industry from the inside out, and to do that he would need a group of idols. He would offer Haruka the chance to prove Kujou wrong, and to help Haruka get revenge on those who had thrown him away. Haruka agreed, and he would debut as part of the group ŹOOĻ alongside Torao Midou, Touma Inumaru, and Minami Natsume.
•ŹOOĻ’s debut was explosive - with the backing of Tsukumo, an entertainment powerhouse, they were able to grab opportunities those with lesser agencies couldn’t dream of straight out the gate, but asides from that there was their attitude. ŹOOĻ was angry and vicious and quickly became known as a group who bucked all the idol norms. They were rude, didn’t play along on TV - except when Torao* may or may not have gotten stabbed with a pen and the rest were cowed into participating because Re:vale’s Momo is terrifying - and on top of that, their music was bangin’.
•However, ŹOOĻ didn’t exactly get along. Taking a group of bitter people, with the sole intent of burning down the idol industry, does not exactly lead to good teamwork. They all had their own reasons to want to perform and for agreeing to work for Ryou, even despite the man saying ŹOOĻ had a limited run time. They were all too different and too hurt by their circumstances to get along.
•But this is a feel good series, so that doesn’t last forever.
•Slowly, ŹOOĻ began to grow more and more uncomfortable with Ryou’s schemes and believed the man to be unhinged - and considering he organized the kidnapping of TRIGGER using ŹOOĻ as bait, tried to kill Re:vale, and stalked Riku Nanase of IDOLiSH7, who could blame them? But beyond that, they started to like being… Well, liked. They liked having fans, liked performing, and liked getting recognition. Haruka finally had the fame he wanted, and was doing he something he loved, and he didn’t know how to feel about it.
•It all came to a head with the alleged death of Sakura Haruki - a famous composer who, same as Kujou, worked with the idol Zero before Zero’s abrupt disappearance. Unlike Kujou, the man decided to search for Zero, despite his illness, and he ended up in the country of Northmare. A young Minami would meet him there and learn how to compose music - and then he died. Allegedly. Nobody was sure, and it began to seem like he hadn’t been, especially when it was revealed that there was a secret code in the lyrics to one of his songs that had been gifted to IDOLiSH7. Please stick with me.
•After a lot of fighting over whether or not Minami should - or would - go to Northmare to find Haruka, it was decided that he would. The group were going to Europe anyways, to perform at a rock music festival that Ryou was hoping would go disastrously. (It didn’t. Their performance actually went quite well!) While in Northmare, ŹOOĻ would get roped into the antics of IDOLiSH7 - turns out one of their members was the second prince of Northmare? And they wanted him to return to the group? And also the royal family knew where Sakura Haruki was? So that was a whole thing. Minami was able to have his reunion being Haruki passed, at least.
•ŹOOĻ returned to Japan, and began preparing for the Japanese Idol Music Awards as well as Black or White, an idol contest. They would win the JIMA award for new debuts, but would unfortunately lose to IDOLiSH7 in Black or White.
